The Mencarini family has been part of the California wine scene for decades, growing grapes in their own vineyards and developing strong relationships with other growers throughout the state. Their Abundance Vineyards Abundantly Rich Red comes from their own property in Lodi; it's 68% Zinfandel, the difference being filled out with Carignan. To call it Zinfandel on the bottle the percentage would have to be upped to at least 75%, but the wine has a classic Zin profile nonetheless: full and rich, with lots of dark fruit aromas, a touch of raspberries and spice, and light tannins.
