Corbières is a leading area in Southern France's wine renaissance.
Once known primarily for cheap, anonymous wines, their quality has shot
ahead by leaps and bounds without losing an appreciation for value.
Olivier Favre, the owner of Chateau La Boutignane, only makes the Grande
Reserve in especially good vintages; this blend of two of Corbières'
traditional grapes, Carignan and Syrah, balances a spicy earthiness with
meaty blackcurrant and tobacco aromas.
