Moorewood wines are made by Rob and Diana Jensen, who also make the
well-known Testarossa Vineyards wines. Their home in the Central Coast
of California has a winemaking tradition that goes back to the 19th
century, when the Jesuit Fathers built the Old Novitiate Winery which
Moorewood now calls home. By buying grapes for their wine from different
vineyards all around the area, the Jensens are able to offer
high-quality wines at great values.
The Moorewood Pinot Noir smells fruity, with lots of red fruits like
strawberries and raspberries vying for your attention. Aging in small
French oak barrels has added an aroma of toast and a light spiciness to
the wine. Not too full-bodied despite its 14.4% alcohol, this
easy-drinking wine is what Central Coast Pinot Noir is all about.
