In 1971 Bob and Sue Brakesman bought a weed-infested, overgrown wreck
of a vineyard on the slopes of Howell Mountain and began to turn it
around. It would be seven years before their first vintage, but the care
and attention they put into the work showed in the wine, a Zinfandel,
which sold out in eight days.
