You may think you've never had a Sangiovese wine, but it's actually
the star grape of the world's most popular Italian wine, Chianti. The
Chianti district is in Tuscany, but there are other regions that grow
the grape as well: Puglia, for example. Puglia is the heel of Italy's
boot, and it's currently a red-hot region for wine. The hot weather and
sunshine ripens the grapes with intensity and character, and the
region's producers are using this to make great red wines that explode
with fruit. Vitae is making the most of the region's blessings, and the
long-appreciated quality of the Sangiovese grape comes through in their
distinctive, bold, and powerful wine.
Sangiovese is distinctive for its cherry flavors, and the Vitae comes
through with a mix of black and Bing cherries balanced by some earthy
and toasty aromas. Puglia's warm weather means that it is fuller than
most Chianti's and not as acidic; this is a classic warm and friendly
Italian wine.
